As the Manager of Membership and Annual Fund, I love being able to connect with Adler members. Whether they are calling to renew their membership or attending a member event, it is always fun to speak with individuals from this diverse community of Adler’s most dedicated supporters. I enjoy hearing why people are Adler members—everyone has their own reasons: they have children that love Planet Explorers, they like attending special Members’ Nights, or they are so fond of the Adler and learning about space science. Our members are part of a special community of supporters that help us fulfill our mission to inspire exploration and understanding of our Universe.
Most people become members because of the great value, especially for families. Membership usually pays for itself on your first visit and you can bring your family to the Adler over and over for all of our interactive exhibitions, incredible sky shows (my personal favorite), and programs offered throughout the year. Members receive exclusive benefits like free admission, unlimited sky show tickets, free coat check, and discounts at the Café, Adler Store, and even on summer camps for kids. Our members also love the benefit of having a member line where they can bypass the regular line to get their show tickets.
Members are the first to hear insider news about the museum in our member newsletters. When new shows and exhibitions open at the Adler, members are invited to special sneak previews and events. We also have exclusive Members’ Nights throughout the year.
I am very excited about everything we have going on at the Adler currently. Members will get the chance to meet and talk with our new President and CEO Michelle B. Larson, Ph.D. at the upcoming members-only premiere of our new show, Cosmic Wonder, on May 17. The event will feature science demonstrations, telescope viewing, Doane Observatory tours, and more! It is awesome to be able to open the museum up exclusively to our members and have them experience the best of the Adler.
There are membership levels that suit everyone’s needs. If you have children, the Family and Family Plus membership levels allow your children or grandchildren to enroll in the Kid’s Explorers Club. Mission Specialists in Planet Explorers send children on special missions throughout the museum. After the missions are complete, earn stamps in your special passport book to earn special patches.
For those who want even more exclusive and behind-the-scenes experiences, Annual Fund memberships are also available.
I feel honored to work at the Adler and to be a part of a museum that inspires so many people to learn more about our Universe. The next time you visit, I hope you stop by our Box Office and become a member or call me at 312.322.0332 to join today! Learn more about our membership levels and benefits.
