Community Design Lab

DIVE INTO A CHALLENGE. EXPERIMENT AND PLAY. LET’S DO SCIENCE TOGETHER!

Included With General Admission

The Community Design Lab (CDL) is a flexible workshop where you can roll up your sleeves, test your ideas, and solve problems creatively.

In the CDL, you’ll do more than learn about science—you’ll become the principal investigator in your own scientific research! With unconventional tools like marshmallows, popsicle sticks, duct tape, shaving cream, and bubble wrap, you’ll find imaginative ways to interact with the Universe.

Design a telescope mount for your smartphone, test it on one of our ’scopes, and share your photographs of celestial objects on social media. Or conduct your own experiments to find out what can survive a journey to 100,000 feet above the Earth’s surface. Your discoveries may find their way into a future flight with Far Horizons, the Adler’s high-altitude ballooning program!
