Earthfest | April 22
Help Preserve Our Home at Earthfest 2017!
Humans as a species have altered the face of the Earth more than any other living being. Our role in shaping our planet is powerful and the human footprint continues to expand. We’ve left our mark on Earth’s land, air, and water… and the pace of change is increasing.
Earthlings of all ages are invited to join us on Saturday, April 22, for Earthfest, and take part in our community-wide conversation about why preserving the planet we call home is more important now than ever before.
In celebration of Earthfest, April 22 is an Illinois Resident Discount Day! Illinois residents can enjoy FREE general admission with proof of Illinois residency.
The Adler also encourages March for Science participants to join us following the parade to continue the conversation and do science with us!
Join us in protecting the Earth by...
…chatting with Adler astronomers and seeing accompanying visualizations about climate change during Data on the Dome in our Grainger Sky Theater.
…working with our Adler Teens on the effects of light pollution.
…attending one of our Climate Chats featuring local experts and Adler astronomers.
…or participating in one of our programs for all ages!
Other #AdlerEarthfest Happenings
In collaboration with One Earth Film Festival, the Adler will be screening The City Dark, an award-winning documentary that provides a fascinating introduction into light pollution and the science of the dark, and offers an exploration of our relationship to the stars.
We’re teaming up with our friends at the Field Museum for special “Scientist Swaps.” Meet scientists from our museum campus neighbors here at the Adler as they share information on native planting, the greenhouse effect, and more!
This Arbor Day, the Adler is taking a stand for our city’s trees by partnering with the Morton Arboretum and becoming a “Tree Champion”! Look out for Morton Arboretum tree tags with important tree facts on the grounds around the Adler.
