Available Opportunities to Work with the Public
Adler After Dark Registration Greeter
Help with pre-registered attendees and orient visitors during out monthly Adler After Dark event.
After Hours Education Host
Adler After Dark, a 21+ event held the third Thursday of every month, has DJs, special lectures and programs, telescope observing and educational activities. Outgoing and engaging volunteers mingle with attendees to spark, enthuse, inspire and provide an unparalleled visitor experience.
Astro-Overnight Assistant
Teach families and scout groups about exploring the Solar System Friday evenings between 5:00 - 10:00 p.m. If you enjoy working with a lot of kids in a faced-paced environment, this is the perfect position for you.
Audience Research Assistant
Assist in the collection of information about Adler visitors and how they participate with programs and exhibits.he world.
Telescope Facilitator
One of the highlights for many Adler visitors is the chance to see night-sky objects during evening events. Join the team of dedicated Telescope Facilitators and operate telescopes on the Skywatcherís Terrace during ongoing programs such as Adler After Dark and Astro-Overnights as well as during special events on-site and off-site.
Web and Social Media Assistant
The Interactive Media department is the online voice of the Adler Planetarium community. We manage the website, podcast, and social media spaces such as Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, and YouTube. We are also involved in the design, development, and evaluation of digital interactives. This position would entail investigation into "what's up" in space and at the Adler, and preparing communications for the public. The Web and Social Media assistant will also work as the public face to face at events such as Adler After Dark, Adler Tweetups, and evaluation of digital interactives.

Far Horizons Project Assistant
To assist Astronomy staff in assembling components of a near-space ballooning system project called Far Horizons.

After you complete and submit the application to the Volunteer Department, if selected, you will be contacted for an interview. We will then discuss the best fit between the museum's needs and your interests and availability.
