        Astro Explorers Jr.: Big ParachuteASTRO EXPLORERS JR.: Engineering Experiences

        Have you ever wanted to design a spacesuit or build a rocket? Engineers design and test the technology that makes space exploration possible. Come explore the exciting world of engineering through hands-on activities, museum exploration, and more! All activities for Astro Explorers Jr. have been specially designed for our youngest campers.

        June 18-19 (9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.)  OR
        June 27-28 (9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.)

        For campers who are at least five years old AND entering kindergarten in Fall 2012.
        $150 per session / $125 for Adler members

        Astro Investigators: Water MoverASTRO EXPLORERS: Mars Adventure!

        Could life exist on Mars? Astrobiology is the study of life in our universe. From telescopes to robotic rovers, scientists use different tools to look for signs of past and present life on other planets. Come join the search for life on the Red Planet through hands-on activities, museum exploration, interactive games, and much more!

        June 18-19 (9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.)  OR
        June 20-21 (9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.)  OR

        Exploring the Edge of Space: Group at Air FieldExploring The Edge of Space: Be the Scientist!

        Back again, by popular demand! Explore the edge of space using high altitude balloons that fly above 99% of the Earth's atmosphere! Work with astronomers to build the scientific instruments and launch the balloons to gather data for real space science research. This camp includes a daylong field trip in which campers launch, chase, and recover their balloon that carried their instruments to the edge of space.

        Technology Camp: Our RobotTECHNOLOGY CAMP: Imagine, Design, Create!

        Imagine and create a community on another planet with the help of 3-D software. Design, build, and program a robot to help make life possible in space. Create a video to document your experience. Imagine, design, and create with the Adler!

        Girl's Tech: Testing RobotTECHNOLOGY CAMP 2.0: Imagine, Design, Create all over again!

        Didn't get enough in Technology Camp? Come delve deeper into the world of robots! Use advanced sensors and programming techniques to tackle new challenges with Lego Mindstorms Robots.

        Summer Worlds Tour

        Summer Worlds Tour: Parachute AssemblyThe Summer Worlds Tour summer camp is for children entering kindergarten through fifth grade in the fall of 2012. Campers will explore the excitement of environmental science at the Adler Planetarium, discover nature’s most extreme animals at The Field Museum and transform into explorers of the aquatic world at Shedd Aquarium. Activities include investigating exhibits, creating original art projects, playing learning games and having lunch along the shoreline of Lake Michigan.

        Summer Worlds Tour: StompSession One: July 9 – 13
        Session Two: July 16 – 20
        Session Three: July 23 – 27
        Session Four: July 30 – August 3

        Each camp session runs Monday through Friday, from 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
        $285 per person ($255 for Shedd, Field, or Adler members)

        All sessions run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

        Cancellations and Refunds

        For all camps: To receive a 90% refund, we must receive your cancellation 60 days or more prior to the start date of your camp session. A refund of 50% will be given if cancellation is received 15 to 59 days prior to start date. Within two weeks of the start date, no refund will be given for cancellations. In the case of low enrollment, we may cancel a camp up to 72 hours before it is scheduled to meet. In the unlikely event that a camp session is canceled due to low enrollment participants will receive a full refund.


        Scholarships

        A limited number of scholarships are available for Astro Explorers Jr, Astro Explorers, Astro Investigators, Technology Camp, Girls Technology Camp, Technology Camp 2.0, and Exploring the Edge of Space.

        There are currently no scholarships available for Summer Worlds Tour.

        The scholarship deadline has passed. All scholarship forms must have been submitted by or postmarked by April 9, 2012.
