PALE BLUE DOT III STUDENT ESSAY CONTEST
Any and all students who attended the Pale Blue Dot III workshop are invited to participate in an essay contest.THEME: the role of communication in science. Contestants may write about the role of communication in science in the context of their experiences at PBD III, in general, in relation to some other specific experience, or in general. LENGTH: Minimum 750-maximum 1,000 words. DEADLINE: Monday October 30, 2006. JUDGES: Members of the PBD III Media Organizing Committee. JUDGING CRITERIA: Clarity of writing, clarity of thought, originality of ideas. PRIZES: First prize -- $500; second prize -- $300; third prize -- $100. Winners will be selected and notified by December 1, 2006. Contestants are encouraged to find publication outlets for their essays, whether or not they win prizes.
