Awestruck was originally organized by the Adler Planetarium & Astronomy Museum, Chicago and the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs. It was curated by Anna Felicity Friedman, Assistant Curator, History of Astronomy Department at the Adler. Cultural Center exhibitions are cosponsored by the Chicago Sun-Times and TCI Communications, Inc. United Airlines and Lufthansa Airlines are the official carriers of the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs. Additional funding was provided by Graphic Conservation Company, Jonathan A. Hill Bookseller, Inc., Kenneth Nebenzahl, Palinurus Antiquarian Books, Pickering & Chatto Ltd. Antiquarian Booksellers, and Roderick S. and Marjorie K. Webster. This online exhibit represents only a partial selection of the works included in the exhibition.

Catalog

An elegant and informative 40-page exhibition catalog is available for purchase by mail. It features an introductory essay and 24 catalog entries illustrated by 12 color plates and 20 black & white plates. The catalog includes works not included in this virtual exhibition. It received several awards for its design, including being selected as one of the 50 best examples of book design in 1996 by the American Institute for the Graphic Arts.
