Webster Institute staff welcome inquiries about our collections and the history of astronomy. Responses take one to two weeks, depending on the depth of the question. Please email your inquiry to astrohistory@adlerplanetarium.org.

Research Appointments

The Webster Institute’s Research Center is open to scholars and graduate students by appointment only. Research appointments depend on the availability of space, staff, security, and fragility of items involved. Appointments often need to be scheduled one to two months in advance. To request an appointment, please download the Research Request Form and mail, fax, or email the completed form to the Webster Institute at the contact information below.

History of Astronomy Group Visits

The Webster Institute occasionally arranges group visits for ten to twenty people. Group visits are generally for college-level courses or professional organizations related to the history of astronomy. Arrangements depend upon availability of space, staff, safety, security, and fragility of items involved. Please email astrohistory@adlerplanetarium.org for information.

Rights & Reproductions

A selection of photographic reproduction services are available for much of the collection. These services include digital images, black/white photographs, color slides, and the rental of color transparencies. A contractual agreement governs the conditions of their use; the Webster Institute reserves the right to decline any request. To make any such request, please contact the Collections Manager via email at astrohistory@adlerplanetarium.org.
