It's a regional campaign is to show people how much Chicago's 14 major museums and zoos contribute to our area educationally, culturally, economically and gaining us recognition globally. Who are the 14 partner museums? Museums In the Park members along with Lincoln Park Zoo, Chicago Children's Museum, Chicago Botanic Garden and Chicago Zoological Society/Brookfield Zoo.
Why a campaign? Millions of people visit the 14 partner museums and zoos every year, yet many people still don’t know the depth of contributions our organizations make to the community, to our state and to the world. The campaign is designed to 1) get people engaged and aware of all that museums and zoos do for our community and 2) to show them how they can get involved in keeping our museums and zoos world class. Ten percent of the Adler Planetarium's electrical power
is now green. We have signed a three year partnership with Community
Energy to supply us with clean, renewable wind energy. Ten percent of
our power is roughly equivalent to the electricity we use in both of our
theaters. Where are the wind turbines and how
does this work? The wind energy that is generated in our name is placed
on the national electrical distribution grid reducing the amount of fuel
based energy needed. To learn more about
Community Energy, surf over to www.communityenergy.biz.
Keep thinking green.
