Community Design Lab

The Community Design Lab is sponsored by the Dover Foundation.

DIVE INTO A CHALLENGE. EXPERIMENT AND PLAY. LET’S DO SCIENCE TOGETHER!

Included With Museum Entry

The Community Design Lab (CDL) is a flexible workshop where you can roll up your sleeves, test your ideas, and solve the day’s design challenge creatively.

In the CDL, you’ll do more than learn about science—you’ll become the principal investigator in your own scientific research! With unconventional tools like marshmallows, popsicle sticks, duct tape, aluminum foil, and bubble wrap, you’ll find imaginative ways to interact with the Universe and each other.

Protect a marshmallow astronaut from the vacuum of space! Create a flying machine and test it in our wind tunnel! Design a zip-line vehicle to deliver materials between two points on a distant planet! These challenges and more await you in the Adler’s Community Design Lab!

Open daily from 10 am until one hour before museum close.
