Summer Camps For Kids Entering Fourth through Tenth Grade

Adler Planetarium Summer Camps

FULL STEAM AHEAD CAMPS

While our camps for younger children introduce campers to scientific ideas, these camps give older kids a chance to put those ideas to work. Full STEAM Ahead campers will have just as much fun as their younger counterparts, and they’ll also be challenged to use real science and creativity to explore our Universe together.

NASA’s Apollo missions inspired generations of scientists, engineers, authors, and filmmakers. This year, as we celebrate five decades since the Apollo missions put human footprints on the Moon, campers will explore Earth’s cosmic companion and the technology, ingenuity, and imagination that made it possible.

Astro-botics Camp

Summer Camp Attendee Playing With Robotics on Computers

Astro-botics Camp Logistics

Challenge yourself this summer! Telescope viewing, lunch by Lake Michigan and cutting-edge sky shows—all unique to the Adler—are the perfect setting for Astro-botics. Based on age and ability, campers will be exposed to the process of designing, building, testing and redesigning as they use multiple types of robotics to overcome escalating challenges. They’ll make connections between the robotic programming they’ve learned and the many types of robotics used in space exploration. Astro-botics is collaborative in nature; campers will work together in pairs or small groups to conquer each robotics challenge.
