Celestial Bash
2025 Celestial Bash
Find where you belong in the universe—starting with Celestial Bash.
Date: Saturday, September 6
Time: 6:30 pm – 11:00 pm
Location: The Adler Planetarium
The constellations you see in the night sky are a perfect collaboration between human minds and the universe. Their names and stories have been written and passed down for thousands of years, from one generation of stargazers to the next. They carry pieces of world history, culture, and imagination, and every star that makes up a constellation has its own past, present, and future—one we can discover with the scientific tools of observation and deduction.
The Adler Planetarium is a different kind of constellation. It is a collaborative endeavor—nearly a century old—to connect people to the universe and each other. The stars that make up the Adler and its story are the people in our community: our neighbors in Chicago, our friends around the world, and the staff and volunteers who make our museum every day. Each member of our community brings their own history, interests, skills, and experiences to the Adler.
We’re bringing together the Adler’s community members for a night of celebration, connection, and philanthropy. Plus, we’ll be honoring two of our recent collaborators, Taylor Witten and Ytasha Womack—the minds and writers behind Niyah and the Multiverse. The shape of our future depends on you—join us at Celestial Bash.
What’s happening this year:
- Explore everything the Adler has to offer—from exhibits to interactive spaces.
- Fully immerse yourself in color and music while journeying through the multiverse during Niyah and the Multiverse, the Adler’s latest sky show.
- Discover the history and personal stories of different astronomical items within our collection from the Adler’s Curator and Director of Collections, Katie Boyce-Jacino.
- See the night sky with your own eyes through small scopes and our Doane Observatory, weather permitting.
- Eat, drink, and mingle with hundreds of your fellow Chicagoans, including our guests of honor, Taylor Witten and Ytasha Womack.
