We welcome groups of all kinds!

Adults (including College and University Students) and Seniors
Unlike humanity’s first trip to the Moon, exploring the universe at the Adler is not a race! Adult and Senior groups can take as much time as they like to explore the history of telescopes, marvel at the craftsmanship of the Adler’s extensive collection of antique astrolabes, or step inside Captain James A. Lovell Jr.’s personal journey into space in Mission Moon.

Youth Groups
The Adler welcomes young (and young at heart) people of all interests and abilities to explore space with us. Aspiring rocket engineers and kids who haven’t yet discovered their love of science will find activities and exhibitions at every turn that spark curiosity and creativity.

Tour Operators
Whether you’re a member of a travel association or working independently, leading a group of students, adults, or seniors, the Adler welcomes groups of all kinds to explore space with us!

Frequently Asked Questions

How to Book a Group Visit

Registration is online only using one of the links above to book your group visit directly through our ticketing system.

After registration, all payments are considered final and not eligible for a refund. Please make sure you have all of your details finalized before you register.

What to Expect

All of the Adler’s exhibitions and experiences (including Planet Explorers which is great for preschool–3rd grade) and world-class collections are included with your admission—free for Illinois schools or included with Museum Entry.

Our sky shows can be added during checkout to any group visit for an additional rate. All shows are 30 minutes in length and take place in one of our domed theaters. Trailers for all of our sky shows can be found here so you can choose the best show for your group.

School groups can book any day of the week, except for Wednesdays, but on days that are not designated as Field Trip Days, school groups will be exploring alongside the general public and our exhibitions and shows can get crowded and sell out.

Additionally, outside of Tuesdays and Thursdays, no lunch space or  pre-purchased bag lunches is available. All items/coats must be left on the bus or carried throughout the museum. Please see the Group Registration Policies & Procedures for more information.

Payment Options

Full payment is due at the time of booking via credit card. We do not accept purchase orders.

Does My Group Need a Reservation, or Can We Just Show Up?

All tickets to visit the Adler must be made online and in advance, therefore, group reservations are required. Not only does a reservation save you money on your visit, but it also guarantees your admission and the sky shows your group is hoping to see.

What Happens When My Group Arrives?

You may enter through the Main Entrance (up the main staircase) or use the Accessible Entrance, located on the ground level to the right of the main staircase, to check in. Please provide the order number from your reservation to a member of the box office staff upon entry.

My Group Exceeds 175 People

If you have a group that exceeds 175, please divide into two or more groups with separate registrations for each.
